1960s Guyatone LG-130T, Sunburst
Here we have a beautifully preserved example of a vintage Japanese guitar, an LG-130T by Guyatone. Founded in 1933, Guyatone is one of the oldest Japanese guitar manufacturers, and one of the first to directly import to The States. Jimi Hendrix even owned a Guyatone LG-70 in 1962! This piece is a bit further up the catalog than an LG-70, and you can really see what set the standard for higher model numbers back in the day: features! This guitar lacks none of those, with three single-coil pickups, a bevy of controls, and a Bigsby style tremolo. Remarkably, all of the controls work on this piece, and without any buzz or crackling! Featured controls are on/off switches for each pickup, a tone roller, a rhythm switch, and a master volume. The sounds afforded are very nice as well, with a nice twang in the bridge and some Strat-like character from the neck. Aesthetically this guitar is gorgeous, and shined up really nicely with some polish. It does have some decent dents and scuffs on the body sides, and it is missing a neck screw, and another neck screw is non-original. It plays fairly well too, especially after a set-up from our talented luthier, but the fretboard is shrinking just a bit. Ships in a hardshell poodle case that is unfortunately missing its handle.
