1974 Rickenbacker 4001, Mapleglo
Here we have a beautiful 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 bass in Mapleglo finish. This classic model has achieved legend status in the rock world, having been played rock royalty like Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, Lemmy, Cliff Burton, and many others. These versatile instruments are capable of a variety of sounds, from a trebly grind like Chris Squier to a round thump, ala Paul McCartney. The wild design and retro aesthetic ensure a bass that will draw heads and sound great doing it. This one is in fine shape, and comes to us from the collection of Jon Davison, lead vocalist of Yes. Aesthetically, the chrome parts have some slight pitting, and there are some small bumps and dings on the back but the top is very clean. The frets have some wear, but they likely have 70% or more life in them. The neck has some relief, but not terribly so and it is also in a favorable area for ease of play and sound. Also included with the bass is its original hard-shell case.
