1960s Zen-On Jumbo Archtop, Vintage Japanese
Here we have a jazz box hollowbody from Japanese manufacturer Zen-On. This guitar has a 3 7/17” body depth with a spruce top and maple back and sides. The neck appears to be a five piece hardwood neck, but we’re not sure of exactly what species. The rosewood fretboard has a zero-fret, and the super slim frets are in decent shape, with a few divots and some flattening, but nothing that hinders play. The pickups sound fairly decent, but they are very low output, and require high volume or some kind of boost to get a big sound, but once you do they really do make a nice jazz sound. Luckily, the acoustic sound is very nice too. Cosmetically the guitar is in decent shape, with plenty of scuffs and dings as to be expected, and the only real issue of note is some relief in the neck, which unfortunately does not have a truss rod. Sorry, no case with this one.
