Here we have truly incredible guitar, a 1961 Gibson Les Paul SG in original cherry finish. In 1960, in an attempt to recoup losses from lower sales, Gibson released a new design for their Les Paul guitars, one that was thinner and simpler than the original iteration. This model proved popular but was not approved by Les Paul himself, who requested that his name be removed from the instrument in 1963. Thus the SG was born, but this particular piece is from that small time frame of 1960-63 and still bears Les Paul’s name. In addition to it being a limited run, this guitar is also in excellent-plus condition, having had only one owner before coming into our possession. All of its parts are original and in working order, including the two PAF pick-ups, Kluson Deluxe tuners, and side-pull vibrato bridge. This guitar has a great feel to it and sounds amazing and the side-pull vibrato takes some getting used to but is a lot of fun to play with. Its is also important to note that this piece is technically a factory 2nd, due to a drop of varnish on the lower horn that is nearly invisible if you don't know where to look. This instrument is a rare and very well preserved piece and ships in its original hard-shell case; a truly fortuitous find for any lover of Gibson guitars.
