This is a 1968 Fender Stratocaster, heavily modified, in a custom blue finish. The neck stamp on this instrument confirms the serial number at 1968, but most everything else has been changed. The pickguard has been modified to hold a humbucker in the bridge, and itself is an oddity having been made for only two knobs. The middle and neck single coils are Kinmans from Australia and the humbucker appears to be a DiMarzio. Surprisingly, however, this instrument does retain its original bridge cover, giving it a very vintage look. The guitar has also had a refinish at some point and the tuners have been replaced with ‘70s style Fender tuners. The refinish was done quite well, but the finish has since been fairly beat up, but she still cleans up nice! Despite its many changes, this guitar still plays wonderfully, with a great feel to the ‘60s neck. The Kinmans give a nice vintage sound and the humbucker gives this classic Strat a beefy punch. If you’re looking for an affordable ‘60s Strat built for a player, look no further! Ships in its worn yet functional original hard-shell case.
