Introduced in 1955, Gibson designed the Les Paul Special as an "in-between" to the entry level Les Paul Junior and the Les Paul Standard. The single cutaway version, like the one we have here, was nearly identical to the Junior, with the only difference being a bound fingerboard. All versions of the '50s Specials included P90 pick-ups. This guitar is in very good condition, with only some minor dings and scratches, some missing hardware screws, and non-original tuners. The original silk-screened Les Paul logo is faded, but still visible and there is some finish cracking on the head-stock. This guitar is still in fabulous shape for its age and plays very well. Fit for a collectors piece or for playing, this guitar is a must have for Gibson enthusiasts. Included with the instrument is the original hard-shell case.
