1958 Martin 00-18G Nylon String Guitar
When one thinks of vintage Martin nylon string guitars, they will undoubtedly think of Willie Nelson’s “Trigger”. Though never a splash in the classical guitar world, Martin nylons will always have a special place in guitar history. Part of that lack of appeal is that many, like this 1958 00-18G, are not classical guitars at all. This model in particular is simply a 00 body with a wide, classical style neck, though not a traditional neck by any stretch, being V-shaped! This is no detriment to the instrument, however, as this guitar still has a warm and unique sound that has really opened up from age. This guitar would be a fabulous pick for a singer-songwriter looking for a great blend of vintage folk with nylon warmth. It has acquired a good bit of wear over the years, from pick scratches to bumps, dings, and hazing, this guitar was played to the moon and back through its life. Aside from cosmetic blemishes, this guitar is in tip-top playing shape, with no bellying or bridge peeling, and the neck is still fairly straight, despite its age and Martin’s notorious lack of truss rods. All told, this is fine and unique piece from Martin; don’t pass it up! Ships in a hardshell case.
