1960s Harmony H45 Stratotone, Aldens Branded
Here we have a Harmony H45 Stratotone, branded for sale by Aldens, Inc. with a stenciled logo on the headstock. Aldens was a mail-order retailer in the early 1900s that grew into the fourth largest company of its kind by 1946. Following suit with the other large retailers of the 1960s, Aldens licensed guitars from Harmony to sell in their catalogs, applying their logo stencil to the headstocks of Stratotone guitars. This guitar has all of its original parts and has been decently preserved since the ‘60s, with most of its wear being around the edges of the of the headstock, and one decent scuff being on the top near the bridge. The sparkle finish polished up very nicely, and the guitar looks very cool and retro. The singlecoil “Hershey bar” pickup has a cool sort of low-fi tone as well, giving this guitar a unique tone when coupled with the hollowbody. The frets have some wear on them, but they have about 70% life left in them. The neck is nice and chunky, and feels good in the hand. All told, this is a fun retro piece, and a sweet vintage guitar for an affordable price. Ships in its original chip case.
