1973 Masaru Matano Clase 500
This is a 1973 Clase 500 classical guitar from Masaru Matano, a Japanese manufacturer known for their high quality factory classicals. Matano sought to produce classicals of handmade quality at the factory level and in the style of Ramirez, and those in the know agree that he succeeded, and today his guitars are sought after for their favorable price to quality ratio. This particular piece has a solid cedar top, an ebony fretboard, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood back and sides. The heel does have a crack in it that has been stabilized by our tech, but despite his efforts it could not be filled and it is quite visible, though again, it is stable. The neck is also a bit tired, making for a high action towards the 12th fret, but not terribly so. If you can get past these quirks, what you get is an affordable power house, and no exaggeration, this guitar has some serious volume and a wonderfully balanced tone. This guitar has had plenty of time to open up with age, and though it is a bit battered, it is a fine classical for any student-performer. Ships in its original hardshell case, that has two broken buckles.
