Here we have a vintage Hofner flat-top from 1981. Hofner is a German guitar manufacturer that gained a name for itself for producing Paul McCartney’s famous “violin bass”. In addition to outfitting the rock legend, the company has been producing affordable guitars for decades, and this acoustic is one of that number. We are unsure of the model designation, but the serial number puts it in 1981. Features include a pearloid inlay rosette, a figured maple veneer back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood bridge. Despite its relative quality, this guitar has a great aged and open sound, and fantastic playability to match. No joke, this guitar has a near perfect action and is a pleasure under the fingertips. The instrument is not without issues though, and these include some finish cracking on the back and sides and across the heel, some light bellying that is causing the bridge to lift slightly, and a missing pickguard. The frets also have some wear, and some divots are forming at the first few positions. Despite these issues, this guitar plays and sounds great and is a fantastic vintage option for a great price. Ships in a hardshell case.
