1982 Fender Smith Stratocaster, Trans-Red
Here we have a 1982 Fender Stratocaster in a gorgeous Trans-Red finish. This piece is what can justifiably called a “Smith Strat”, after Dan Smith who was responsible for returning the Strat closer to its original spec, after many were disappointed with the changes in the ‘70s. Technically that entails a smaller headstock, a 4-bolt neck, and a truss rod adjuster on the high end of the neck, rather than a bullet truss rod at the top. One fun fact; the ‘70s logo stayed the same, which some find ill fitting with its block style. This piece is in fine condition, but it does have a few quirks, the biggest of which being a replaced bridge. The original is included, but the saddles are rusted a good bit and it has a whammy bar broken off in it. The replacement is a perfect fitting licensed Fender part. It also appears that someone had installed a Fender MIJ style locking nut on this guitar, as there are filled holes on the headstock, though they are not incredibly noticeable. Apart from the replacement bridge, the only big issue would be some fretware, though they do have some good life left in them. The neck feel is awesome, with a shallow C shape that makes for a comfortable purchase on the instrument. The sound is where this guitar really shines, with that twang, quack, and squawk that we all love from a Strat. The bridge pick-up has a great bite as well, which really helps cut through a mix. At over 8 lbs, this is hefty Strat, but that makes for a tighter sustain! All told, this is a fabulous vintage Strat, and a collector’s piece for anyone missing a Smith Strat for their collection! Ships in its original hardshell case.
