This is a Fender Bullet S-3 from 1983 in black finish. The Bullet series was meant to offer beginners and economically conscious players the opportunity to have an American made Fender. The line was set to replace the Mustang and Bronco as Fender’s student offering, with a smaller body size and thinner necks for ease of play. As the name implies, this piece has 3 single coil pick-ups with a 5-way switch giving it a similar tonal palette as a Strat. The sound is indeed close to a Strat, but with perhaps less bite. After a deep clean and set-up from our talented in-house tech, this instrument feels awesome in the hands and looks great doing it. There is a decent amount of dings on the front and back, but the finish still polishes up great and looks striking with the black tortoise pick-guard. There is also quite a bit of buckle rash on the back. This instrument also has some beautiful birdseye figuring on the back of the neck and the fretboard; a rare and welcome treat for an economy instrument. This instrument would make a fine addition to any Fender collection and an excellent player piece to boot. Ships in a chip case.
