1985 Ibanez AS200 Artist, Antique Violin
Here we have a truly gorgeous piece from Ibanez, an AS200 semi-hollow electric from 1985. Continuing the ES-335 inspired Artist Model 2360, these instruments were made from beautiful materials with as much building prowess as Ibanez had gained through the lawsuit period. A 1982 AS200 was the main workhorse of celebrated fusion guitarist John Scofield, and judging from this example, it’s easy to see why. The top is beautiful flamed maple, the fretboard is ebony with pearl and abalone inlays, and the gold hardware accents the whole piece fantastically. Cosmetically it’s very clean, with the most noticeable blemishes being some lacquer chips out of the body binding. After a setup from our talented in-house luthier, this guitar is a fabulous player, with a fast neck and low action, and really comfortable frets. The sound is very classic, with added versatility from a coil splitter switch for the neck pickup. This piece is stunning and a personal favorite of this writer; don’t pass this beauty up! Ships in its original hardshell case.
