A Brief History from our Tech Writer

The legendary vintage Fender single-coil tone is a coveted sound chased by many, and one that some consider a product of one remarkable lady: Abigail Ybarra. Mrs. Ybarra began working at the Fullerton Factory in Corona, California in 1956 and took to pick-up winding almost immediately. The so-called “Queen of Tone” worked for Fender until 1985 and went on to work for Jackson until returning to Fender’s custom shop to work her magic on some select treasures until her 2013 retirement. This is one of those treasures, a 1998 NOS Stratocaster in Olympic White with initialed Abigail Ybarra pick-ups. The NOS, or New Old Stock series seeks to replicate those legendary guitars from Fender’s glorious early days, this one being a replica of a mid-60s Stratocaster.

Details

This guitar comes complete with Kluson style tuners, a vintage style tremolo, and 3 custom ‘65 pick-ups. The instrument was also built with original production and tooling techniques from the ‘60s to further it’s vintage appeal with an added bonus of a “Thin-skin” finish for that aged, open sound. This piece is in fine condition, with the only wear being on the back of the neck (which has been sealed)  and some bumps on the lower part of the body, but these character marks add to the vintage aesthetic. The sound is marvelous, with all the twang and smooth-as-silk tone you could want from a Strat. After a thorough cleaning and set-up by our in-house tech, the guitar plays beautifully and looks gorgeous to match. If you are looking for your piece of The Queen of Tone’s legacy, than look no further! Ships in its original hard-shell case with its strap, and certificate from Fender.
