1998 Martin D-42
This is a 1998 Martin D-42 acoustic dreadnought guitar. For decades, C. F. Martin has been synonymous acoustic guitar quality, and the dreadnought has long been the flagship style of this company. Speaking of style, it'd’ be tough to find a guitar with more style than this classy piece; boasting an ebony fretboard, a sitka spruce top, and a gorgeous Indian Rosewood back and sides. The guitar has a mellow tone that is rich in low end, with a good balance as well. After a deep clean and set-up from our talented in-house tech, it plays as good as it looks, with a comfortable action if not a little high towards the 12th fret due to a very slight heel dip. The only other issues would be some lacquer scraping on the back of the neck and an inlay near the bottom strap button that used to be loose. Our tech glued and secured the inlay, but it is not quite flush with the wood. It is also apparent that a previous owner had rigged it with some kind of pick-up, and in so doing removed the bottom strap button, and it was not replaced when the electronics were removed. Aside from those issues and some bucklerash, this guitar is in great shape! It ships in its original plastic molded case, whose storage compartment lid has detached.
