2004 Gibson Smartwood Les Paul Studio

This is a 2004 Gibson Smartwood Les Paul Studio, complete with its hemp hard-case. Here’s what Gibson.com had to say about it:

Gibson USA is proud to produce the Les Paul SmartWood Studio, a full-size Les Paul Studio model guitar reaffirming Gibson’s commitment to producing a quality instrument that utilizes only SmartWood certified woods. This line of eco-friendly guitars was introduced in 1996, making Gibson the very first guitar company to offer a SmartWood guitar. Today’s Les Paul SmartWood Studio captures the look, feel and tone of Gibson’s iconic Les Paul model without sacrificing any of its traditional features. The new Les Paul SmartWood Studio features a top made of muiracatiara, or simply muir—also known as Tigerwood in some circles—which grows extensively in Brazil and has a beautiful grain that varies from shades of brown to red, with irregular stripes ranging from dark brown to grayish white. The Muir cap sits on top of the Les Paul’s traditional mahogany back, producing a combination of tonewoods that is both warm and powerful, and entirely worthy of carrying the Les Paul name. The neck is made from mahogany, crafted with Gibson’s traditional ’50s rounded profile, and the fingerboard is constructed using the SmartWood species preciosa, and inlaid with pearloid dots. A newly designed truss rod cover features a green floating leaf, the official logo of the SmartWood series. Other features include gold hardware, traditional green-key tuners, and Gibson’s patented 490R and 498T Alnico humbuckers. Each Les Paul SmartWood Studio comes with an exclusive burlap-covered case with the “Gibson USA Certified” stamp logo, and a certificate of authenticity.

The instrument is in very good condition with only some corrosion on the hardware, a spot of worn lacquer on the top, and some buckle-rash on the back.
