Ampeg Super Stud GE500 c.1970's
While better known for its amplifiers and early bass models, Ampeg did have a short outing in the electric guitar world. This Ampeg Super Stud is one such instrument from their Japanese import series during the 1970s. With a name like Super Stud, you know it come from an earlier time, and this axe surely lives up to that dubious name. The instrument has a lovely dark stain finish and accenting gold hardware with a pearl pickguard; every bit of gaudy ‘70s flare. The sound is nice, with a particularly sweet neck sound. This axe has a solid maple body and is seriously hefty, making it feel quite substantial in the hands. There is some corrosion on the hardware and some binding peeling on the headstock but overall it is in excellent condition. Sorry, no case on this one.
