c.1962 Hagstrom Kent Bass, Red Fiberglass Body
Here we have a Kent Bass from Hagstrom c.1962. This oddball bass has a fiberglass body top with a vinyl covered wood back. Adding to the oddity is a four switch control panel with an on-off for both pick-ups, a tone switch, and a mute switch, along with a volume knob. Unfortunately, the neck pick-up switch is broken on this piece and the bridge switch has been wired to control both pick-ups, so they can only ever be on or off together. The decal that would normally be between the pick-ups has also been removed. There was also a fracture on the neck that has been repaired, and the bass holds tension with no issue. Aside from these quirks, the bass plays and sounds fairly nice and has a great, wacky vintage vibe. Ships in a hardshell case.
