c.1970 Kimberly Greenburst "Bison", Japanese Vintage
Every vintage Japanese guitar enthusiast nows, the more pickups the better! And this Kimberly greenburst “bison” has got about as many as you can stuff into it. These guitars were imported into the US market from Kawai in the early 1970s, who loaded them with four gold-foil single coils, an on/off switch and volume knob for each one, and a master tone knob. The greenburst finish also pops very nicely with the floral pickguard, giving this guitar a quintessential vintage Japanese look. This piece is also super clean, with just a few dings along the body sides.
The sound starts fairly understated, but since the pickups are wired in series, it gets louder the more pickups you have engaged, allowing for some serious output from this ax. And with all the different combinations, this guitar is full of tones to keep you busy for hours. It’s also a decent player, with a comfortable neck and frets with a good amount of life left in them. After a deep clean and setup from our talented in-house tech, this guitar is ready to rock!
