Ron Carriveau has been building guitars since 1968 under a few names and for a few companies. His major claim to fame came in the 1980s with the advent of his “Eloustic” guitars. Most of these guitars were generically shaped and featured nylon strings and a Piezo pick-up on a hollow body. This piece, however, is something very special; the only known prototype “Strat” model Eloustic. This guitar is a very beautiful and versatile piece, with a pair of humbuckers in addition to its Piezo, this guitar is capable of some wildly varied sounds. Its construction feels nice and solid and the neck is an absolutely gorgeous piece of Bird's-eye Maple. The dark brown burst spruce top is contrasted by the gold hardware for a very elegant look. The instrument has a great full sound, even without being plugged in. With only light wear on the pick-up covers, this guitar is in excellent condition and ships in its original hard-shell case.
