Bill “The Budha” Dickens has been laying down sensational bass grooves since 1971, performing with the likes of Victor Wooten, Pat Metheny, and Al Di Meola. Dickens is well known for his use of extended range basses (ERBs), employing as much as 7 strings to provide a massively dynamic low-end. This is one such instrument, a Conklin GTBD-7 Bill Dickens signature in trans-red flame finish. The instrument is currently tuned to 4ths from the low B; B1-E2-A2-D3-G3-C4-F4. The is a massive range for any instrument, and really opens up the tonal spectrum for bassists. With a three-position parametric preset rotary switch and mid-frequency selector, this bass offers even more tone possibilities in addition to the EQ and blend controls. The pick-ups are Bill Dickens custom active Bartolinis which sound great spanning from a snappy slap bass sound to a massive break-up. Our tech currently has it set-up a little low for easy slapping, which causes a little buzz in the low strings, but this can easily be changed with some basic adjustments should you prefer a different style. This bass is in excellent condition save for a blemish near the bottom strap button; otherwise it would be perfect. This unique and powerful bass is ready to groove and ships in a gig-bag.
