Fender Coronado II Bass 1967

Fender

Here we have a relative oddity for the Fender brand, a Coronado II bass made in 1967.  In the 1960s, Fender had intentions of tapping into the hollow-body market that was growing so popular.  In comes Roger Rossmeisl, former designer for Rickenbacker, to create the Coronado line of guitars and basses.  These instruments were outfitted with DeArmond pick-ups, which was further unusual for Fender. They also came with F-holes and tune-o-matic style tail pieces, all in an effort to compete with Gibson and Gretsch for the hollow-body market.  This particular piece is in excellent condition, with barely any nicks or scratches and a very straight neck.  The action is smooth and the instrument is nice and light, making it an ideal for smaller players or for extra-long gigs.

Weight: 6 lbs. 12 oz.
