This is a 1957 Gibson ES-225T in excellent condition. At the time of its conception, this instrument was the first thinline hollowbody Gibson had ever produced, but was short lived with only 5220 of the model being made between 1955 and 1959. The original guitars had a florentine cutaway, a Les Paul combined bridge, and a single P-90 in the middle position. This pick-up placement gives the guitar a great, smooth sound making it perfect for jazz with just a little bite. This particular piece is very clean, with a nice shine on the top and most of the wear located on the sides, save for some buckle rash on the back. The parts are all original; the Kluson tuners are smooth as silk and the electronics are clean and quiet. This guitar is a real dream to play on, with a fast neck and great response from the P-90. The no-nonsense set-up is really conducive to jamming; just dial in the tone and play away. If you are looking for an affordable piece of 1950s Gibson hollowbody glory, then look no further!
