The Gibson ES-345 hollow-body electric was introduced in 1958 as a successor to the already popular ES-335. The ES-345 introduced new features like a “Varitone” switcher for greater color possibilities and stereo output. This particular piece plays great and really feels substantial in the hands. The action is low and fast and the neck is fairly straight. There is some corrosion on the hardware, but it all functions properly and without difficulty. There is some checking on the finish and a sizable scuff on the back of the neck toward the heel, but these are aesthetic issues that do not affect playability. This cherry beauty ships in its original hard-shell case.
