Gibson SG Special Faded Series, Worn Cherry
The Gibson SG was born from a controversial change in design to the Les Paul in 1961. The thin, double cutaway was ultimately rejected by the man himself, but the style was well-received by many, and the shape would live on under the new moniker SG, for “Solid Guitar”. The instrument has been the main axe of rock legends like Angus Young from AC/DC and Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, among many others, ensuring its immortality in the rock pantheon. In 2002, Gibson released the Faded Series, which sought to provide a worn, vintage vibe for a great price. This is one of that series, a 2007 SG Faded Special in worn cherry finish. This guitar has the vintage look down, with a pair of uncovered humbuckers and a set of Kluson-style Gibson tuners. The guitar certainly appears well played, either from factory stressing or previous owners, with the typical buckle rash, bumps and dings, and ¼” cable dents around the input jack. The frets are beginning to flatten a bit, but they still have lots of life left in them. With a perfect sound for hard rock and a beefy neck, this axe is ready for action and ships in a hardshell case.
