This is a 1966 Guild Starfire III in Cherry finish. The Starfires were part of Guild’s first attempt to break into the electric guitar market, one that met with acceptance in the hands of players like Jerry Garcia and Buddy Guy. This piece has a nice twang from its single coils, and it plays very nicely. There are plenty of love marks on it, but it is still a good looking piece. The worst of the blemishes lies on the back where there is some serious buckle-rash, otherwise, there are some scuffs on the top but nothing too serious. The instrument is all original save for the missing pick-guard and the very new locking tuners from Sperzel, which despite sticking out like a sore thumb, are smooth as silk and work beautifully. Ships in its original hard-shell case.
