This is a 1960s Japanese solid body, likely built by Kawai. This guitar is somewhat of a rarity in that it appears to have all of its original parts, including the whammy bar that is so often missing from these Japanese vintage guitars. With a 24 ¾” scale length, this instrument feels normal playing wise, but it has a small and thin body, making it a great choice for smaller players. The neck is a bit on the wider side, but not terribly so. The sound from the single coil pick-ups is twangy and surprisingly full with a little distortion and reverb. There are a few bumps and dings on the body, and one decently sized dent on the back of the neck, but this does nothing to affect playability. There is also some significant checking on the body top and back, but this instrument still looks smart with its burst finish and tortoise shell pickguard.
