Here we have a Japanese made Kay SG copy from the 1970s. Kay Musical Instrument Company was originally an American company, founded in 1931, but in 1969 their assets were auctioned off and the name went to Weiss Musical Instruments. WMI were known to import Japanese instruments, and as such they put the Kay name on guitars from Teisco/Kawai. This is one such instrument. This guitar has a laminate body and neck and a string retention bar, a tell tale sign of a Kawai-made instrument. The guitar is in very good condition, with only some light damage to the body and a straight neck. The sound is big and much cleaner than you might expect for one single coil pick-up. Sorry, no case on this one.
Weight: 5 lbs. 6 oz.
