Kay was a musical instruments company founded in 1928, making banjos, mandolins, and guitars at high volume. The company boosted its guitar production in the late '50s and early '60s to meet high demands, and produce many different instruments for Silvertone and others under its own brand name. This piece is a Swingmaster thinline from c.1964. It comes with two Gold Kay "kleenex-box" pick-ups which have a smooth P-90 sound, but with a tad more darkness. The guitar is in excellent condition with a straight neck and reasonable wear on the body and pick-guard. The checkered binding and sunburst finish really make this a smart looking guitar, and a great pick for anyone looking for a relativity inexpensive vintage option.
