This is a rare C30 classical from Larrivée, made in Canada in 1998. Jean Larrivée began his luthiery training under German classical guitar builder Edgar Munch Sr., so this guitar hearkens back to Jean’s roots, but with an interesting twist in the Florentine cutaway. The guitar is a fabulously built piece, with a fine spruce top and a rosewood back and sides. Remarkably, the neck is one piece of mahogany from the tip of the headstock to the bottom of the heel. The neck has a thinner profile for ease of play, and feels great in conjunction with the ebony board. It has abalone treatments for the rosette, and the bridge is rosewood, as is the tie-block. The cutaway allows for unrestricted access to the high frets and thankfully, does not limit the projection of this beautiful guitar. The sound is mellow and warm, but the trebles still cut through well, and the chord sounds are likewise very smooth, but also articulate. This is a rare and beautiful instrument, and a wonderful classical for someone looking for something a bit different. With not a scratch to be found, this guitar is in mint condition and ships with its original hardshell case and papers.
