Renaissance by Rick Turner RS-6 Standard, Natural w/ Rosewood Back and Sides
This is a Renaissance RS-6 Standard, designed by the great Rick Turner. The Renaissance series was conceived of as a way to offer Turner’s iconic acoustic-sounding electrics at a lower price point than his boutique custom models. These models are still handmade, but utilize “...techniques that allowed (Turner) to slash labor costs dramatically…” The result is a gorgeous, well-playing, and incredible sounding guitar for a price you’d expect from a mass manufactured retail brand. This guitar truly is a merging of acoustic sound with electric feel; through the right amplifier, you can get gorgeous woody tones and grand chord sounds that really fill up the room. The neck is a super thin C shape that plays beautifully, with plenty of speed. The top is cedar, and the luxurious back and sides are made of rosewood, giving this guitar a high class look to go with the primo sound. Speaking of sound, it is no exaggeration that when we first plugged this baby into our acoustic test-amp, we were shocked at the body and clarity that this guitar produces. The acoustic simulation of this guitar is no joke, and anyone looking for a compact and easy to play acoustic sound need look no further! This instrument is in excellent condition with only a few scuffs at the tip of the headstock. Ships in a padded gigbag.
A Brief History from our Tech Writer
Rick Turner has been building unique electric instruments under his own brand since 1979, but his luthiery began around 1969, when he co-founded Alembic guitars. His early pickups helped inspire the low-impedance, preamp powered pickups that Alembic was known for. During his decade with Alembic, he honed his guitar craft until finally breaking out on his own and making his Model One guitar, which was put into the happy hands of Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham, who remains Turner Guitar’s longest running endorsee. Turner has also made guitars for Ry Cooder, David Crosby, and Andy Sommers, along with his guitars being spotted in the hands of players like John Mayer and Robby Krieger of The Doors fame.
