Rockbridge 000 "Texas Rangers" 2006

Here in Texas, whether you’re in Dallas, Austin, or our little slice of heaven in New Braunfels, one thing is always the same; Texans love Texas. So when we put our eyes on this beautiful Rockbridge “Texas Ranger” guitar, y’all better believe we were excited!

A Brief History from our Tech Writer

Rockbridge Guitars is a Virginia based company of only four builders with a yearly output of only 60 guitars, assuring that every guitar is meticulously crafted and perfected. Started by already seasoned luthiers Randall Ray and Brian Calhoun in 2002, Rockbridge guitars have made a name for themselves in a short time, having been played by artists like Richie Sambora, Keith Urban, and Dave Matthews. With decades of prior knowledge studying fine instruments from Gibson, Martin, and others, Rockbridge Guitars set out to create a unique instrument that combines beautiful sound, excellent playability, and stunning looks due in part to their intricate inlays.

This is a 000 acoustic guitar with a cedar top, rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck. The ebony fretboard bears a masterpiece of inlay work courtesy of Brian Calhoun. Around the 12th fret is a longhorn steer under a setting sun, above a bluebonnet flower. Above the steer, starting at the 3rd fret, are perfectly shaped stars, meticulously inlaid with astounding detail. On the headstock is a Texas Ranger “Co. A” badge, making this one hell of a guitar for any Texan. Being such a beauty, this guitar was well loved by its previous owner and shows some dings, dents, and scratches on the top and back from play, but this does nothing to detract from this beauty. This guitar is also a great player, with a comfortable matte finished neck and a medium-low action. The sound is big and loud, especially for a guitar of this size, with a nice treble bite and a decent warmth from the basses. This guitar is in great shape and ships in a hardshell case.
