Squire Telecaster 1986
This is a Telecaster from Squier by Fender in a head-turning trans-yellow finish. The Squier brand was bought by Fender in 1965, and the label was originally meant to be a European commodity but was soon turned into a worldwide entry level line for Fender guitars. This is one such instrument, built in c.1984 in Japan. These ‘80s Japanese Squiers are well known for their high quality, with some extravagant stories claiming that they exceeded their American made counterparts of the time. Rumors and stories notwithstanding, this guitar certainly feels like a standard Tele, with the only difference for this writer being that the guitar feels a bit lighter than a standard Tele. The neck feels very authentic and substantial in the hands, and the maple fretboard gives great response. The sound is as twangy as ever with some very satisfying roars from the neck pick-up. Squier or not, this guitar is every bit of Tele you could desire. The guitar is in very good condition, with only a few dings on the pickguard and some slight fret wear. Ships in a Fender gig-bag.
