Vox Hurricane 1966

Here we have a fabulous collector’s piece for any fan of Vox, a 1966 Vox Hurricane complete with its original case, case candy, and The Beatles adorned warranty card. Vox offered four guitars in the style of Fender’s Stratocaster, each one named after WWII era fighter planes. These Italian made instruments featured this description in the 1966 Vox catalog: "Contoured body; quick flick 3 position switch; true spring action vibrato; individual string bridges; sunburst and popular colors." This particular piece is a sunburst with a white pickguard that is curling from age, but still looks very clean. The body finish is super clean, front and back, and the hardware looks great too. The only issue with this instrument is that the bridge pick-up is very quiet, and it would be very risky to remove the warped pickguard to check it as it might not re-attach properly. The instrument still passes tone, but to this writer it seems more of a collector’s piece than a player’s instrument. Ships in its original hard-shell case with warranty card and case candy.
